Horton and Bryan Family History

Roderick Perry II was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on 5 October 1776, just three months after the American colonies declared independence on 4 July 1776. His parents were Roderick Perry I (1738-1808) and Jane Randolph (1750-1816). They migrated to Shelby County, Kentucky, when he was a small boy. He married Susanna Brown (1785-1853) in Woodford County, Kentucky, where they had six children in 10 years. He died there on 9 August 1821 at the age of 44. His will left “one black whip horse colt”[i] to his daughter, Mahala, age 17. She was our great great great (3x great) grandmother and her father, Roderick, our great great great great (4x great) grandfather.
